The homeowners of Ruby Sunset envisioned a Lake Tahoe retreat that captured the area’s natural beauty and delivered functional, inviting spaces for family gatherings. Working closely with a skilled designer, they planned an open layout for entertaining, private bedroom suites for rest, and a lively game room and bar for endless enjoyment. With a holiday deadline in mind, they partnered with Plenium Builders to bring this vision to life, aiming to create a fully refreshed home ready to welcome family and friends by Christmas.

Custom Carpentry and Fine Finishes

Plenium Builders' carpentry team played an integral role in executing this transformation, infusing custom craftsmanship throughout the home to elevate both style and functionality. In the bunk room, our carpenters created a built-in sleeping area for eight, complete with two pull-out trundle beds, individual sconces, and charging stations for each bed—a thoughtful touch that adds comfort and convenience for guests. Our team also built a custom wood vanity for the powder room, enhancing its charm and functionality, and a unique mudroom bench with paneled walls that cleverly conceal generator controls, combining practical design with aesthetic appeal.

Bringing Character to Every Room

Beyond the extensive custom carpentry, the project involved refreshing nearly every surface in the home. Our team painted and wallpapered walls throughout, adding distinctive paneling to create themed spaces in each room. All bathrooms received a facelift, including refinished cabinetry, new hardware, bath accessories, lighting, and mirrors, aligning with the overall goal of giving the home a fresh, sophisticated look without a major remodel. For added character, we installed a corrugated metal ceiling on the second-floor deck and mounted a real ski lift chair, blending whimsy with Tahoe’s alpine spirit.

Logistical Challenges and Precision Work

The scope of the project included handling large-scale logistical challenges to ensure a flawless execution. Nowhere was this more evident than in the kitchen, where three large marble slabs were craned up to the third-floor deck despite the winter weather. Snow and high winds added complexity to the lift, but our team maintained careful coordination and safety oversight to place each slab securely and accurately. The resulting kitchen, with its open shelving, tilework, and oversized island that seats nine, is both visually stunning and functionally inviting, providing a perfect gathering space for the homeowners and their guests.

Balancing Client Goals with Designer Vision

Plenium Builders collaborated closely with the designer, whose creative input introduced new elements throughout the project. Each addition pushed the boundaries of the initial plan, challenging our team to adapt quickly to integrate every detail in time for the holiday deadline. Despite winter weather and the demands of a busy local market, we completed the project on time by coordinating local subcontractors, expediting material procurement, and managing a tight construction schedule.

A Home Refreshed, Ready for Lasting Memories

The finished Ruby Sunset features a refreshed game room and bar, complete with neon signage, shuffleboard, and floating wall shelves for family photos, creating a warm and inviting space for relaxation. Each bedroom suite is designed as a private retreat, with custom lighting, plush carpeting, and thoughtful touches throughout. Plenium Builders' dedication to quality and custom craftsmanship shines in every corner, resulting in a Tahoe getaway that beautifully balances luxury and warmth, creating an ideal setting for lifelong memories.
