This 6,000-square-foot, ultra-contemporary residence has many unique features, including a custom pool with “floating” step stones, an operable Venetian plaster bas-relief television cabinet, built-in olive burl bookcases and matching fireplace surround. The use of exposed hot rolled steel, zinc and western red cedar siding creates an unexpected blend of texture on the exterior that carries into the interior. The wide-plank rift oak flooring is tapered and laid perpendicular to the radius hall that runs the length of the house. The house also generates most of its own power with the use of its solar panels. Complementing the contemporary architecture, the interiors reflect modern, clean lines and serene materials selected to allow the international collection of art to take center stage on a background of polished plaster and wool herringbone wall covering.
